The Nurse Who NEVER Left Room 502
Up nextEp 27: The Ghost They INVENTED: And It Came AliveThe documented facts
- Waverly Hills Sanatorium opened its stone building in October 1926 near Louisville, Kentucky, with some 400 beds for tuberculosis patients.
- Sober estimates put the hospital's death toll between 6,000 and 8,200; the 64,000 figure has no records behind it.
- A 500-foot tunnel carried the dead down the hill in secret; the hospital closed in June 1961 and became the Woodhaven Geriatric Center in 1962.
- Legends say nurses died in Room 502 in 1928 and 1932, but investigators found no nurse suicides in the records; two nurses did die there of tuberculosis.

Room five-oh-two. That's where the nurse stepped out of the window. And she never left the building.
Waverly Hills Sanatorium, Louisville, Kentucky. In the tuberculosis years, the dying filled every ward. The dead left down a secret shaft.
I walked the fifth floor at midnight. Footsteps answered mine. A tall shadow crossed the doorway ahead of me, faceless, silent, gone before I turned.
Stitch this if you would walk the death tunnel tonight. Cameras filmed doors slamming with no hands on them. And something in the dark whispered my name.
In Room five-oh-two, a rocking chair rocks with no one in it. The corridor lights die. The cold touches your throat before you ever feel scared.
The investigators left at dawn. Half of them never really left. Would you spend one night in Waverly Hills? Follow for tomorrow's true nightmare.
