The documented facts

  • In 1974, Stephen King checked into room 217 at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. He fled in the middle of the night.
  • The nightmare he had that night became The Shining. Room 217's most famous guest was Elizabeth Wilson, who died there in 1921.
  • Guests report luggage unpacking itself, pianos playing with no one there, and laughter in empty hallways.
  • Ghost Hunters investigated in 2006. The Stanley leans into it — they sell out the haunted rooms months ahead.

The full narration

Stephen King checked into room 217. By 3AM, he wanted out. The hotel was empty, and he dreamed his boy was chased through grand halls by a living fire hose. He woke shaking. The Shining was born.

Room 217 terrified guests. Travelers wake to unpacked suitcases, closet doors swinging open alone. Some swear the founder still stands at the foot of the bed.

In 1921, an explosion tore through room 217, nearly killing chambermaid Elizabeth Wilson. She never left. Bags drift across rooms, unpacking themselves.

Room 418 echoes with children playing in corridors. Late at night, the concert hall piano plays to no one. Flora Stanley never wanted the music to end.

In 2006, the Ghost Hunters tested it. A door slammed on command. A faucet turned on. Stitch this video if you'd spend a night in room 217 alone. Follow for a new true nightmare every day. Sleep with the lights on, if you can.

Dramatized for the telling. The facts above are documented; the narration is the Draugr’s retelling of them.
